Poor, poor Britney Spears. She’s mentally ill, she’s vulnerable, she struggles with addictions, she’s manipulated, she’s sad, she’s lonely, she’s a victim.

Bullshit.

Britney Spears is the result of a nasy, unethical science experiment. That experiment went something like, “Let’s give a not-very-bright, poorly-educated, white (trash) teenager a boob job, a fawning entourage, and control of her ridiculously huge fortune and see what we get.” What do you get? You get a MESS. Britney Spears is a mess, and if you want to blame someone, I guess you could start with her greedy parents, who decided that their little Brit was a goldmine. They classlessly used her until she started looking a little broken, then essentially tossed her away. Left to her own devices, she got into even more of a mess than her parents could manage for her. It’s pretty ironic that her father is now back controlling her money and interests, since he’s part of the reason she got so fucked up in the first place. Who I really feel kind of bad for is the younger sister, Jamie Lynn, who it looks is already well on the way to being fuck-up number two, courtesy of the toxic Spears parents.

But fast-forward to today. Britney is an adult now, with ample opportunity to learn from her mistakes and to accept her adult responsibilities. Do you think she will? Um…do you think that the Pope will ever become a feminist? Of course not!!!

I purposely didn’t watch the “documentary” on Mtv last night, though I’ve seen plenty of clips. I knew that watching it would just make me ill. The best summary of the commercial – oops, I mean documentary, and the mess that is Britney herself, is on FourFour. Thank you, Rich.
