Currently watching The Venture Brothers (Season 1) on DVD. OMGWTFBBQLOL hilarious! See, my husband got me a cute new iPod Shuffle for Christmas. Tiny and silver and clips on wherever while holding 1gig of songs or whatever. Only problem is, I already have three iPods, so I returned that shuffle. And ended up spending twice as much as it cost, but that’s OK! It’s all stuff that I needed. Well, wanted, anyway. Here’s what I got:
- Previously-mentioned Venture Brothers DVDs
- Buffy Season 5
- Buffy Season 6
- A new DVD player for the bedroom TV
So a very merry Christmas indeed. PLUS! By the end of January I should be sitting in my fabulous new Lazyboy recliner, which was my main present from the hubby. It looks kind of like this (and wow, I just wasted easily 45 minute playing around on their website):

Time really flies when you’re obsessing over your blog’s theme and layout like some kind of CSS-befuddled, anal-retentive hermit. In other words, when you’re me. I think I just about have the kinks worked out, but the page definitely looks better in Firefox. And it will probably change a few more times before I’m completely satisfied!
The Bean is feeling much better now that she’s been on antibiotics for a few days. She’s enjoying her Jumperoo a LOT and I hope to have a video posted very soon. It’s really hilarious to watch her go crazy jumping in that thing. It definitely helps tire her out for us – she’s been sleeping like a rock at night, and taking at least one nice hour-plus nap during the day.
It’s New Year’s weekend! Time to eat, drink, and be merry between obsessive blog-layout-editing sessions. Here’s hoping to a better year in 2007, with fewer douchebags (aka Republicans) fooking up our country and an end to the debacle in Iraq sooner than later. Universal healthcare and impeachment of at least Bush & Cheney (or as I like to call them, Monkeyboy and The Devil) would be nice too, but I’m not holding my breath.

Tonight I was updating my blogroll/links sections and I noticed that quite a few of my friends haven’t updated their blogs in six months or more. You know who you are! What’s the deal? Get busy! I’m so in love with my new WordPress, I’m sure I’ll blog relentlessly (at least for a few more weeks). So watch out!
Here’s a picture of The Bean, who really enjoys spending time in her activity saucer now. It’s very rewarding to see her obviously enjoying something that we bought for her so much. It’s also great that she entertains herself in it for so long! Great for when Mom & Dad need a break, to eat or go to the bathroom or take care of other basic human needs. She sits in this thing and pushes with her feet, turns around, moves the toys around, makes the bells ring and the rattle-type things rattle, spins the little globe, and pushes on the buttons that make various animal noises and play snippets of music. Honestly, if I had one it would probably entertain me for 30 minutes or so too.
Unfortunately Bean has had a rough week. She’s teething and has been spiking a fever off and on all week, as well as having a bad cough last Sunday through Thursday. She’s obviously in pain from that, and now she has an ear infection (in her right ear) too. Today the doctor gave us antibiotics for her, and advised us to try baby Motrin instead of baby Tylenol for the pain. I hope it helps – she’s been so miserable all weekend, and very unlike herself.

I have finally ditched (or am trying to ditch, anyway) Blogger. Not that there’s anything inherently wrong with Blogger – though if you want to have a quick and easy blog hosted for you there are many options nowadays (Vox, Typepad, etc.). But ever since Blogger upgraded, users who publish on their own servers via FTP (like me) were made to feel kind of…well…unwanted. It’s not like I wanted the world…I just wanted to be able to format where labels were placed, and what they were called. Anyway, I decided it was high time to install a content management system on my server (which is hosted by ICDSoft, and I love love love them by the way), and really get serious about this blogging thing.
So here we are, with WordPress. I’ll be learning a lot over the next few days, and trying to import all my old posts and archives. So bear with me, it could get ugly, but it will be worth it in the end.

Hard to believe The Bean will be six months old on the day after Christmas. Six months has just flown by, though I admit at times I thought I was going to lose my mind. She’s been sick with a bad cough all week, a fever off and on, and hasn’t been eating or sleeping normally, but even through all of that I’ve found myself thinking about whether we should have another one! If I can seriously consider that, then I guess motherhood hasn’t scarred me too badly.
We set up her Jumperoo (early Christmas present) yesterday and she has spent some happy hours bouncing around in it. Between that and her activity saucer, she’s spending more and more time entertaining herself. She can almost sit up by herself now and rolls enthusiastically from side to side, though she hasn’t quite gotten to the point of rolling onto her tummy. Her babbling has taken on a very speech-like quality, and just today, she said to me:
Ahhh ya ya ya buh! Na na na na blooooo.
I don’t know what that means yet, but I’m working on it.
